Pasta with Basil & Tomato Sauce

Ingredients:
0.5 lb pasta (I used Fettuccine for this recipe)
1/4 cup olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
8 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup fresh basil
2 tbsp. fresh oregano
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
2 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese

Instructions:
1. Cook the pasta in a pot of boiling salted water until it's al dente. Then, drain the pasta, but be sure to reserve a cup of the cooking water.
2. Meanwhile, in a separate pan, sauté the minced garlic in olive oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute.
3. Add the cherry tomatoes to the pan and continue sautéing for about 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
4. Stir in the tomato sauce, reduce the heat, and let the mixture simmer. Add salt and black pepper and mix.
5. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce along with the fresh basil, oregano, and about ¼ cup of the pasta cooking water, stirring to combine.
6. Increase the heat to medium and stir everything together, adding more of the reserved cooking water if necessary to adjust the sauce consistency.
7. Serve the pasta topped with grated parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of fresh basil.
